Did you all have fun at the Thompson reunion?! That was a once in a lifetime experience and can never be repeated.

How can you repeat being separated from friends for over thirty years and then getting them all back together under one roof. It was an emotional roller coaster of feelings and sensations. It was so good, that people are organizing other mini reunions. Nothing can ever copy or surpass the Thompson reunion, but we can continue this and have fun. We can still have an emotional roller coaster ride.

On September 26 to 28, Sault Ste Marie, Ontario is having an Alumni Reunion. Almost one year to the day of the Thompson reunion. This time of year in Sault Ste Marie is one of the most beautiful places in the country. It's the height of tourist season and they come to the Sault to see the beautiful fall colours. There's the Agawa train tour, which I encourage you to book ASAP and ask for car # 16.

For those that don't like trains, there's the lock tour boats. This is a Double Decker boat that takes you on about a two hour tour of the river, the locks, and part of the great lake. This River gets its source from Lake Superior, the biggest fresh water lake in the world, and there are some great lookouts that overlook the Lake. And the salmon from the Lake will be running the river in September. There's a beautiful boardwalk that runs parallel to the river and you can actually see the salmon swim by. And this boardwalk is lit up at night. There is also Double Decker tour buses for those who want to visit historical parts of the Sault.

Friday night, September 26, is wine and cheese get together. Saturday is the train tour, or boat tour or bus tour or shopping or whatever. Then Saturday evening is the dinner and dance with a live band. As opposed to a dead band. I had to say that. This band will be playing some 50's and 60's and maybe some 70's music. That's when the era of music ended. For those interested in the Train Tour, make your reservations now. It won't cost you a thing to reserve, and you can cancel two weeks before the event which would be September 13. After that it would cost you $7.70. So if you're not sure you are going to come, reserve anyway. You can always cancel later.

I forgot to mention that on Sunday, we will have a brunch out in the country accompanied by some acoustic music. And there will be some drinks for those so inclined. We are only here for a little while and we have so little time to see each other, so mark your calendar and go for it. For those who weren't at the Thompson reunion, here's a second chance to take the ride of your life. See you in Sault Ste Marie, 2003. Has a ring doesn't it!

Hi Everyone!

Hope everyone had a great summer!

We're sorry to report that registrations for our planned get together in Sault Ste Marie have been substantially below our Committee's initial expectations.

We will need to cancel the planned Wine and Cheese get together and the Saturday evening dance that was planned.

There may be still be a number of people taking in the Algoma Train Tour on Saturday the 27th.

We encourage those who still plan on attending to use the Mini-Reunion bulletin board link http://www.jan.norcom.mb.ca/rdparker40th/Mini_Reunions.htm on the Reunion Site to exchange information on some possible get together's in the Sault on the weekend of the 27th and 28th.

I would love a reunion here in Calgary for anyone I went to school with. It would be interesting to see who lives in and around Calgary or Alberta for that matter. If anyone sees this and remembers me please email.

Back in the late 60'sthere was a large contingent of Thompsonites living and going to school in Winnipeg. Volker Beckman and I, along with Rick Hess, Greg Hill and a few others decided one year to hold a Thompson Reunion. We rented a banquet room, got a liqour license and hired a live band and had one hell of a party. The reunion grew into an annual event that became so popular that a large group of people would drive in from Thompson for the weekend to partake of the revelry. I would like to revive this event and so far have recruited Wayne Leblanc to help organize it. We would like to hear from anyone interested in helping us put it together. We are thinking of April/May as far as timing goes and we beleive that we will attract a sizeable group of out of towners.
